NEW PALTZ, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz swim teams were in action at home in Elting Pool Saturday. The Hawks squared off against Bard College and Skidmore College both from the Liberty League. The men and women both came in second out of three teams defeating the Raptors and falling to the Thoroughbreds.
Alex Gorzula finished first in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:24.65. Gorzula would also claim first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:02.63. Jack Wirth finished third in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:14.14. Antonio Vavalle took second in the 500-yard freestyle as well with a time of 5:03.73. Vavalle would also claim first in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:49.15. The men took first in the 200-yard freestyle relay (Jack Samko, Luke Hoyt, Alex Gorzula, and Steven Macaluso) in a time of 1:29.88.

Angelina Somma claimed fourth in the 400-yard IM in a time of 5:25.54. Sierra DePry claimed second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 57.78. DePry would also claim first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:08.09. The women took second in the 200-yard freestyle relay (Sierra DePry, Shannon Corr, Abigail Keiser, and Molly Snyder) with a time of 1:48.27. Shannon Corr claimed first in the 50-yard with a time of 26.78. Abigail Dusseault would finish third in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:44.39.

The Hawks will have a little under two weeks break from competition. They will return to action December 1 for day one of the TCNJ Invitational in Ewing, NJ.
