EWING, NJ — The State University of New York at New Paltz swim teams were on the road again for day two of The College of New Jersey Invitational. Both Hawk teams remain in fourth through day two. The host Lions remain in first for the men as are the Ducks of Stevens Institute for the women.
Alex Gorzula finished sixth in the 400-yard IM prelims with a time of 4:17.95. Gorzula would also finish twelfth in the 100-yard breaststroke prelims with a time of 1:00.78. Antonio Vavalle finished in twelfth place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:49.43 in prelims. Vavalle finished sixth in finals with a time of 1:47.91. Jack Wirth claimed third in the 100-yard backstroke prelims with a time of 52.32 and went on to finish sixth in the finals with a time of 53.32. Steven Macaluso finished seventh in the 100-yard fly with a time of 51.76 and fifth in finals with a time of 51.58. The men took seventh in the 200-yard medley relay (Jack Wirth, Alex Gorzula, Steven Macaluso, and Jack Samko) in a time of 1:36.44. The men also took seventh in the 800-yard freestyle relay (Korey Barber, Alex Gorzula, Luke Hoyt, and Antonio Vavalle) in a time of 7:22.62.
Sierra DePry finished sixth in the 100-yard fly with a time of 1:03.10 in prelims and fifth in finals with a time of 1:01.58. Sage Vadney took seventh place in both the prelims and finals of the 400-yard IM with times of 5:16.99 and 5:13.69 respectively. Vadney would also place eleventh in the 100-yard backstroke prelims with teammate Molly Snyder close behind in twelfth place. Abigail Dusseault finished ninth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:06.55 during the preliminary round. Dusseault finished twelfth in the finals with a time of 2:06.03. Naomi Levey took eighth in the prelims of the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:13.26. Levey would go on to finish eighth in the finals with a time of 1:14.50. The women took fifth in the finals of 200-yard medley relay (Sage Vadney, Naomi Levey, Angelina Somma, and Shannon Corr) with a time of 2:00.82. The women also took fourth in the finals of 800-yard freestyle relay (Sierra DePry, Amanda O'Brien, Taylor Pazderski, and Abigail Dusseault) with a time of 8:33.16.
