EWING, NJ — The State University of New York at New Paltz swim teams were on the road today for day one of The College of New Jersey Invitational. The Hawks will compete over the course of the next three days in the biggest meet on their fall schedule. Both Hawk teams sit in fourth through day one. The host Lions are in first for the men and the Ducks of Stevens Institute are in first for the women.
Antonio Vavalle took sixteenth place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:01.69 in prelims. Vavalle finished eleventh in finals with a time of 4:54.07.
Alex Gorzula finished twelfth in the 200-yard IM prelims with a time of 1:58.16. Gorzula would go on to finish tenth in finals with a time of 1:56.53.
Jack Samko finished eleventh in the 50-yard freestyle prelims with a time of 22.12.
Steven Macaluso finished right behind Samko in twelfth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.15. The men took eighth in the 400-yard medley relay (
Jack Wirth,
Alex Gorzula,
Steven Macaluso, and
Venn Engstrom) in a time of 1:29.88.
Abigail Dusseault would finish eleventh in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:37.59 during the preliminary round. Dusseault finished ninth in finals with a time of 5:30.87.
Erin Donovan took eighth in both the prelims and finals of the 200-yard IM with times of 2:24.87 and 2:24.40 respectively.
Sierra DePry finished eighth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.61 in prelims and seventh in finals with a time of 25.75. The women took sixth in the finals of 400-yard medley relay (
Molly Snyder,
Naomi Levey,
Sierra DePry, and
Shannon Corr) with a time of 3:34.50.
