EWING, NJ — The State University of New York at New Paltz swim teams were on the road for the final day of The College of New Jersey Invitational. Both Hawk teams finished fourth in team scoring over the three-day competition. The host Lions of TCNJ swept the team competition claiming first place for the men and the women.
Jack Samko finished in eleventh place in the 200-yard fly with a time of 2:03.31 in prelims. Jack Wirth finished ninth in the 200-yard backstroke prelims with a time of 2:01.26 and went on to finish sixth in the finals with a time of 2:00.55. Steven Macaluso finished tenth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.01 and seventh in finals with a time of 47.80. Alex Gorzula finished tenth in the 200-yard breaststroke prelims with a time of 2:13.18. Antonio Vavalle finished eighth in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:21.13 in finals. The men finished seventh in the 400-yard freestyle relay (Venn Engstrom, Jack Samko, Steven Macaluso, and Antonio Vavalle) in a time of 3:16.19.
Sierra DePry finished third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.82 in prelims and fourth in finals with a time of 55.85. Sage Vadney took eighth place in both the prelims and finals of the 200-yard backstroke withtimes of 2:20.85 and 2:22.84 respectively. Candela Sandoval, Angelina Somma, and Taylor Pazderski would place sixth through eighth respectively in the 200-yard fly prelims. Sandoval moved up to fourth place in finals with a time of 2:25.81. Abigail Dusseault finished fifth in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:57.21 in finals. Naomi Levey finished ninth in the prelims of the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:43.77. Levey would maintain ninth in the finals with a time of 2:41.42. The women took eighth in the finals of 400-yard freestyle relay (Sierra DePry, Naomi Levey, Erin Donovan, and Shannon Corr) with a time of 3:55.16.

The Hawks will return to action over a month from now on January 13 for a home SUNYAC dual meet against the Red Dragons of SUNY Cortland in Elting Pool.
