New Paltz, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz men's volleyball program is kicking off its 2024 season in the Dominican Republic from Jan. 9-17 against some of the best competition the country has to offer.
The Hawks, coming off a United Volleyball Conference semifinal appearance in 2023, re-sets with an influx of young talent and will jump right into top-tier play as it competes in three exhibition matchs while in the Dominican Republic. Their three-game slate begins Jan. 12 against Mao at the Poldeportivo Don Julio Munoz arena at 5 p.m. They then return to the court the following day for an 11 a.m. match against Linavo at Multiuso Tamboril before concluding their trip against Volirumba Team at Pabellon de Volibol at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 14.
The preseason travel to the Dominican Republic is the second time in recent history for the two-time national champions, as they began their 2020 campaign with stints against teams in the Dominican Republic, while prior to their 2016 national winning campaign played competition in Puerto Rico.
SUNY New Paltz returns to the States Jan. 17 and will play its first regular season game at home in the Hawk Center Jan. 24 at 7 p.m. in the Hawk Center.
