Geneva, NY — The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced its annual Division III all region teams Wednesday with the State University of New York at New Paltz field hockey team earning two selections in senior
Hannah Ackerman and junior
Rachel Tama.
NFHCA recognizes a first and second team from six different regions across the country with 190 student-athletes selected. Ackerman earned her second straight first team honor, while Tama was also named to the first team in her second all-region nod of her career.
The Hawks earned at least two selections for the sixth-straight year and at least one for the 12th consecutive season. The duo was among six others from the SUNYAC selected with SUNY Cortland leading the way with four picks.

Hannah Ackerman (First Team)
Senior, Midfield
Nesconset, NY/Smithtown East HS
Ackerman becomes the first ever four-time, first-team All-Region selection in program history after earning her fourth consecutive first team All-SUNYAC recognition as well, following her final season in blue and orange.
Ackerman captained SUNY New Paltz to a second-straight SUNYAC finals appearance and third in the last four seasons with the Hawks finishing the season at 14-6 overall and a No. 23 final national ranking.
The Nesconset, NY native started in all 20 games and led the team in minutes played, logging 1,206 minutes of action, manning the middle of the field for the Hawks. She totaled six goals and a team-leading 14 assists — the third-straight year she led her team in the category — while tallying 62 shots, 44 of which were on goal for a .710 shots-on-goal average with one game-winner. Additionally, Ackerman landed fourth in the country in assists per game, averaging .74 a contest.
Since stepping foot on campus, Ackerman has been a cornerstone of the Hawks field hockey team. She was named SUNYAC Tournament MVP in her first season to go along with first team All-SUNYAC and All-Region nods and last year became the program's first ever, first-team NFHCA All-America recipient. She was the key to the Hawks midfield the last three years, as she was the facilitator from offense to defense to aid in SUNY New Paltz's transition on attack, while also being one of the team's best in winning back possession. She leaves a storied legacy, as she finishes ranked sixth all-time in goals, second in points and became the program's leader in assists with 42 during her four seasons, 12 more than the second highest in Hawks history.
Rachel Tama (First Team)
Junior, Forward
Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay East-Fishkill HS
Tama had a breakout season in 2024, as she set new career-highs for goals (26), assists (11) and points (63) as she led not only the Hawks, but the entire SUNYAC offensively this past season.
After earning a First-Team All-SUNYAC and Second-Team All-Region honors as a sophomore, Tama upped her play in being a SUNYAC Player of the Year nominee while earning her first ever First-Team All-Region III nod with a prolific offensive performance in 2024. She started in all 20 games played, logging 1,170 minutes of action which ranked third on the team only behind Ackerman and graduate center back
Morgan Woolley.
The Hopewell Junction, NY native added 11 assists to her 26-goal total, finishing second-most on the team only behind Ackerman. Her 63 points and 26 goals were second most in single-season program history, just seven and four shy, respectively, of the record set in 2013 by Danielle Conklin.
Tama, who added a team-leading seven game-winners, tallied two or more goals in six games including recording a program single-game record of five against Morrisville where she also notched a single-game record in points with 11. She scored in 13 of 20 games she played in and went on a five-game goal streak in the middle of the season where she totaled 15 goals in the span in wins over Morrisville, RPI, Oneonta, FDU-Florham and Oswego, respectively.
The junior ranked second in the country in goals per game with 1.37, as well as landing third in the nation in points per game (3.32), second in total goals and tied for first in points.
