New Paltz, NY - The State University of New York at New Paltz women's tennis team released its 2024-25 schedule today.

As 10-time SUNYAC Coach of the Year Rob Bruley enters his 27th season at the helm of the Hawks women's tennis program he finds a somewhat downsized fall schedule with the departures from the SUNYAC of long-standing rivals SUNY Geneseo and SUNY Brockport, both of whom begin play in the Empire 8 this fall. Nonetheless, the goal will be as it has been since his arrival at New Paltz...to win the SUNYAC championship and qualify for the NCAA DIII tournament.

The Hawks fall schedule will begin at home with the New Paltz Tournament on Saturday, August 31st. One week later New Paltz will travel up the Thruway to Schenectady to take part for the first time in the Union College Invitational, held on Saturday, September 7 and Sunday, September 8.

New Paltz returns home on Friday, September 13 to host the Valiants of Manhattanville University. The last time these two teams met was in 2019 with the Hawks winning 9-0. The Hawks open their SUNAYC account the next day, Saturday, September 14, against SUNY Plattsburgh. New Paltz defeated the Cardinals 9-0 in 2023. Sunday, September 15 sees the Hawks across the Hudson, participating in the final day of the annual Vassar College Fall Scramble.

The Hawks travel to Oneonta on Wednesday, September 18 to take on the Red Dragons of Oneonta. New Paltz defeated Oneonta twice in 2023-24: 9-0 during the regular season and 5-0 in the semifinals of the SUNYAC championship.

New Paltz is home on Saturday, September 21, hosting the New Paltz Tournament II and continues on the home courts on Wednesday, September 23 going against RPI. The Hawks have played the Engineers 36 times since 1976, with RPI holding a commanding 27-9 record. The last time New Paltz bested RPI was a 9-0 victory in 2010.

The Hawks final three matches for the fall season are on the road at the Binghamton Tennis Center, taking on SUNYAC opponents Fredonia on Thursday, October 3, Oswego on Friday, October 4 and Cortland on October 5. Last fall, New Paltz defeated Fredonia 9-0, Oswego 8-1 and Cortland 7-2 to finish the SUNYAC regular season undefeated at 7-0.

New Paltz returns to the courts for spring 2025, opening on Sunday, April 6 at the Drew University Invitational. This will be the Hawks first appearance at the Drew event; in spring 2024 Drew made it to the second round of the NCAA DIII tournament.

On Tuesday, April 8, New Paltz returns to Schenectady to play against Union College. The last time the Hawks met the Garnet Chargers was in 2019, a 7-2 New Paltz win. The following afternoon, April 9, sees Stevens Institute, a 2024 NCAA DIII second round participant, come to New Paltz; last season the Hawks fell to the Ducks 3-6.

The New Paltz Tournament III is scheduled for Saturday, April 12 before the Hawks host NCAA DII power St. Thomas Aquinas on Wednesday April 16. Last season the Spartans downed the Hawks 4-0 in a weather shortened match, on their way to a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA DII tournament.

The Hawks are away in Poughkeepsie taking on the challenging Brewers of Vassar College. The last time New Paltz met Vassar was in 2016, with Vassar prevailing 2-7. New Paltz concludes the spring 2025 season with two home matches; on Saturday, April 19, Hartwick College will visit New Paltz; in 2024 New Paltz downed the Hawks 9-0. Sunday, April 20 will see New Paltz host RIT; in 2024 the Hawks defeated the Tigers 6-3 away in Rochester.

New Paltz returns to the Binghamton Tennis Center on Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26 to seek their 10th SUNYAC championship crown. Hopefully, with another SUNYAC title in hand, the Hawks look to again play for an eighth time in the NCAA DIII tournament, beginning on Saturday, May 10.
