Syracuse, NY – The State University of New York at New Paltz swept the weekly SUNYAC Conference awards for both Women's and Men's Cross-Country Athlete of the Week.
Senior
Marcella Candlin, from Saugerties New York won this week's conference recognition after being the Hawks leading runner at the Fred Pavlivh Invitational Saturday hosted by Bard College.
Candlin placed second overall with a time of 24:32.9 and a split time of 6:58.2 to help lead the Hawks to a first place team standing in the 6K race.
Oliver Melara-Perez led the pack on the Men's course, finishing first. The senior from Port Washington New York crossed the finish line with a time of 27:32.7 and a split time of 8:01.9. Melara-Perez helping the Hawks to a first-place team finish in the 8K race.
The Hawks are back in action in mid Oct. at the Rowan Interregional Border Battle in Logan Township New Jersey.
