The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced Monday its annual All-SUNYAC Field Hockey team with four SUNY New Paltz players selected to the all-star squad. The four selections are the seventh time in program history for the Hawks.
The four all-conference picks are the last in the SUNYAC for SUNY New Paltz, which has totaled 91 All-SUNYAC honorees since the inception of the program in 2000 with Kelly Anderson landing the initial all-conference honor in the team's inaugural season. Beginning in 2026, the Hawks will be a part of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) and look to begin a new, lengthy list of all conference honorees.
Three seniors and one sophomore make up this season's All-SUNYAC selections. Seniors
Rachel Tama,
Meghan Gunning and
Madeline Meyer all earned All-SUNYAC First Team honors, while sophomore
Sophia Bronzi was named to the All SUNYAC Second Team.
SUNY New Paltz finished 2025 with their seventh consecutive winning season at 10-8, with a 4-1 SUNYAC mark and for the 15th straight year, earned a spot in the SUNYAC Championship tournament.

First Team All-SUNYAC
Meghan Gunning (senior, midfield)
Port Jefferson Station, NY/Comsewogue HS
Meghan Gunning after playing at the outside midfield spot for the Hawks for three seasons, had the task of taking over center midfield duties from reigning three-time All-American
Hannah Ackerman entering her senior season. A tall task no doubt, but in turn, Gunning's instincts and vision with the ball allowed her to thrive in the spot as she had a career season in her final stint in the blue and orange with her first career All-SUNYAC honor, landing on first team.
Gunning saw a team-leading 1,078 minutes on the field during the regular season, starting 18 of 18 games for the Hawks. She scored two goals with four assists for eight points, with a .731 shots-on goal-percentage.
In SUNYAC play, she started all five games with 285 minutes on the field, scoring one goal and adding three assists for five points with a .583 shots-on-goal percentage. She earned SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Week honors the week of Oct. 6 after helping her team to wins over Union and Oneonta.
The Port Jefferson Station, NY native played a full 62 minutes in the Hawks' SUNYAC Semifinal game against Cortland and registered an assist en route to earning her second career SUNYAC All-Tournament Team honor.
Gunning ends her career with 61 starts in 64 games played over the course of her four-year career with six goals and 11 assists for 23 points.
Madeline Meyer (senior, defense)
Halfmoon, NY/Shenendehowa HS
Having
Madeline Meyer back in 2025 immediately made the Hawks defense better and as a result, was recognized with her first career All-SUNYAC honor.
Sitting out all of 2024 due to injury, Meyer returned for her senior season and proved herself as one of the best defenders in the SUNYAC. She is incredibly clinical with her tackles, rarely missing a takeaway when she goes down for the ball and is incredibly athletic and quick to win possession back if she does give the ball away on the rare occasion from her center back position.
Meyer was crucial in SUNY New Paltz's defense, which allowed just 29 goals with a 1.71 goals-against average including less than nine shots against per game. She also serving as the team's flyer prior to breaking her nose midseason, and in the team's offensive corners as well. Seeing 996 minutes of playing time, Meyer started all 17 of 17 contests she appeared in and was one of two players leading the team with four defensive saves.
Against SUNYAC competition, she started all five games with 272 playing minutes and added one assist.
She played all 62 minutes of the Hawks' SUNYAC Semifinal game against Cortland and was named to her first SUNYAC All-Tournament Team honor.
The Halfmoon, NY native in three playing seasons, finishes third all-time in defensive saves with nine, only three behind program leader and former teammate Sam Moran (12). Meyer ends her career with 2,852 minutes played in 52 games appeared in with 49 starts and two assists.
Rachel Tama (senior, forward)
Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay-East Fishkill HS
A historic career concludes for senior forward
Rachel Tama who fittingly earned her third-straight All-SUNYAC First Team accolade after leading her team in points for a third consecutive season. She is the second Hawk to earn three straight first team honors, joining Jessica Ascencao (2018, 2019, 2021).
Although her numbers didn't equate to the most illustrious statistical season in single season program history of her junior year where she put up 63 points, arguably, Tama was even more crucial on the field directing all the attention as the team's most dangerous threat on the field with the graduation of three-time All-American
Hannah Ackerman. From benefactor to beneficiary, Tama became the team's assist-leader setting up her teammates for success as she continued to use her speed, I.Q. and stick work to burn defenders in space and in the circle.
A 2024 NFHCA All American and two-time NFHCA Regional pick, Tama started 18 of 18 regular season games with 1,007 playing minutes in 2025. She finished second in goals scored with eight, first in assists with 13, first in points with 29 and scored three game winning goals with a .603 shots-on-goal percentage.
In SUNYAC play, the Hopewell Junction, NY native started five of five games with 266 minutes on the field and led SUNY New Paltz with four goals, six assists, 14 points with game-winners against Oswego and Oneonta, while having a .658 shots-on-goal percentage.
Tama leaves NPFH as one of the best players in program history. She finishes her career for the Hawks with 4,087 minutes played, appearing in 75 games over the course of her four-year career with 74 starts, scoring 49 goals (a program record) and tallying 39 assists (second-most all-time) for 137 points (most all-time), while her 12 game-winning goals is also a program record.
Second Team All-SUNYAC
Sophia Bronzi (sophomore, defense)
Hopewell Junction, NY/Arlington HS
Bronzi made the sophomore jump after an impressive initial season for SUNY New Paltz, playing at a crucial spot in the Hawks' defense at the low center mid position.
Named captain ahead of the season, Bronzi led on and off the field and proved as the future of the program as she earned her first career All-SUNYAC recognition, landing on second team.
A smart and skilled player, Bronzi played on both offensive and defensive corners for SUNY New Paltz and was critical in beginning the team's transition from offense to defense, working with Gunning ahead of her.
The Hopewell Juction, NY native started all 17 regular season games, finishing second on the team in minutes played with 1,024. She added two defensive staves and added one goal to her credit, which came in a 4-1 early season victory over Rampao.
In SUNYAC play, she saw 291 minutes, starting all five conference games. And, over the course of her first two seasons, Bronzi has never missed a start, playing in all 39 games thus far.
