Box Score Orlando, FL – The State University of New York at New Paltz fell 5-2 in their second match of their spring trip to Florida, against Ave Maria University.
Doubles: Justine Stanejko and
Isabel van der Veen won their first doubles match of the trip in a 6-4 set.
Sydney Sladicka and
Angelica Gabriel played second doubles and fell 6-3 in their set.
Olivia Kunz and
Nina Genzone also fell 6-3.
Singles: Stanejko earned her second singles win of the trip. Stanejko won the first set in a close 7-5, lost her second 4-6 and won in the tiebreaker 11-9. Sladicka fell 6-2 in her first set and 6-0 in the second, losing the match. Van der Veen lost her first set 6-4 and her second 6-2.
Alston fell 6-4 in the first set and 6-1 in the second. Kunz dropped her first set 6-1 and tried to battle back in her second but fell 6-3.
Gabriel battled in her match winning the first set 6-4, dropping the second 6-3 and then took the tie breaker 12-10, earning the win for the Hawks.
The Hawks continue their trip Wednesday against the College of Saint Benedict with a 12p.m. start at the United States Tennis Association National Campus.
