MAHWAH, NJ —The State University of New York at New Paltz women's cross country team was in action today for day two of the Ramapo College T&F Invitational hosted by Ramapo College of New Jersey. Ramapo College is a member of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) which SUNY New Paltz will join in Fall 2026. The men concluded their participation on Friday evening, so it was the women's team in action for second day. The second day's competition featured the middle-distance track events and relays in unseasonably warm temperatures for northern New Jersey. Today's meet was a non-scoring NCAA track and field meet.

Lillian Stephenson was the first hawk in action finishing twentieth overall in the 1500m run with a time of 5:38.98. Sam Maendel and Mikayla Cecora finished twenty-third and thirty-seventh place(s) respectively in the 400m. Maendel's new personal best time of 1:07.05 in the 400m was the second fastest in program history. Maendel would return in the 800m to another new personal best time of 2:50.65 and finish twenty-third overall. Carolina Cuello, in her first collegiate race with the hawks, ran a new personal best time of 2:57.94 in the 800m run for twenty-seventh place overall. The 4x800m relay would be the final event for the hawks in the two-day meet at Ramapo. A relay squad was composed of Marcella Candlin, Crystal Rustami, Jazmyne Daily-Simpson, and Orquidea Briceno finished in sixth place with a time of 10:47.26. Today's 4x800m relay performance is now the third fastest in program history, passing the previous third place mark set back in 2013 of 10:47.71. The hawks also set new personal best times in the 800m on their leg(s) of the relay including Candlin (2:29.9), Daily-Simpson (2:46.8), and Briceno (2:38.7).
The Hawks will return on April 11 for day one of two at the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College in New London, CT.
