NEW LONDON, CT —The State University of New York at New Paltz men's and women's cross country team(s) were in action tonight for day one of the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College. The first day's competition featured the elite distance track events restricted to athletes with the lowest seed times. Today's meet was a non-scoring NCAA track and field meet.
Hunter Larson battled thirty-degree wind chills and blowing rain to set a new school record in the 10000m on the track. Larson's time of 41:26.88 bested Julia Eddy's time of 41:46.43 set at the same meet back in 2019. In addition to the new school record Larson also holds three of the top five all-time performances in the 10000m. In the men's 100000m, Oliver Melara-Perez had to retire after the thirteenth lap and was unable to finish the race.
