New Paltz, NY — The State University of New York New Paltz freshman outside hitter
Nikko Tenedorio was named as the United Volleyball Conference Rookie of the Week for the fifth time in the final week of the year.
Tenedorio helped the Hawks to a five-set win over No. 4 seed St. John Fisher College in the first round of the UVC Tournament Friday. He was second on the team in points and kills, registering 14 and 17, respectively. Tenedorio hit .296 in the match and was huge at the net, posting four blocks while adding an assist and an ace to go along with nine digs, second most on the team.
In the semifinal round against top ranked NYU, Tenedorio tied for a team-high nine kills with three assists, a team-high three aces with a block and seven digs in the four-set match.
