New Paltz, NY — The American Volleyball Coaches Association announced its 2025 Division III Men's Volleyball All-Region teams Monday with Hawks freshman outside hitter Nikko Tenedorio named as the Region II Newcomer of the Year to go along with All-Region honors.
 
Tenedorio was the breakout player for the State University of New York New Paltz this past season, as the freshman from Bay Shore, NY led the team in nearly every offensive statistical category. He registered team-highs in points (393.5), points per set (3.78), kills (328), kills per set (3.15) and aces (34), while adding 28 assists. Tenedorio quickly became a full rotation player for the Hawks, as he also finished first on the team in digs (176) and digs per set (1.69), while ranking third in blocks with 53 on the year.
 
Against top 20 competition this spring, Tenedorio played in 67 sets through 16 matches and averaged 3.22 kills and 3.78 points per set, while hitting .246 with 17 aces, serving at a .683 percent clip in the category. He recorded a serve receive percentage of .966, while adding 113 digs, averaging 1.69 per set and added 33 total blocks.
 
Tenedorio caps a standout first year by adding AVCA All-Region II and Newcomer of the Year honors, coupled with UVC Rookie of the Year, Second-Team All-UVC and UVC All-Tournament team recognition. Tenedorio is the first Newcomer of the Year selection since Steven Woessner and Tim Ferriter won back-to-back AVCA Division III Newcomer of the Year awards in 2014 and 2013, respectively.
 
Tenedorio was joined by 13 others on the All-Region II team with all but one coming from the United Volleyball Conference. The AVCA All-Region teams are made up of 14 players across four regions, which includes a Player, Newcomer and Coach of the Year. There were 56 student-athletes from 27 different schools represented on the list.
