New Paltz, NY — The State University of New York New Paltz officially released its 2025 men's soccer schedule Thursday with the Hawks looking to build off of last season's postseason run with a strong regular season slate.

The Hawks scheduled three preseason scrimmages in the middle of August to gear up for the regular season, hosting Bard and Mount Saint Mary College before going up I87 to face RPI in exhibition matchups. They then officially start the season at home against Sarah Lawrence Aug. 29 at 5 p.m. playing in an afternoon matinee game following the women's game on South Turf at 2 p.m.

Their non-conference schedule continues, going on the road to take on Springfield two days later before coming back home to host Union and Scranton College Sept. 2 and 6, respectively. SUNY New Paltz faced both opponents last season, falling on the road 1-0 in both outings and hope to have a different result on their home field in 2025.

The cross-river rivalry continues against Vassar College Sept. 10 with SUNY New Paltz making the trip to Poughkeepsie, NY. The Hawks lost the battle last season, 2-1, with the Brewers holding the overall advantage at 10-21-2 with SUNY New Paltz earning a 1-0 win last time it made the trip over the bridge in 2023.

After going down to Westchester County to take on Manhattanville for a noon kickoff Sept. 13, SUNY New Paltz returns to South Turf Field to host Stevens — a top 25 team from a year ago. The Ducks finished 2024 12-3-5 overall and was 6-0-1 in the MAC Freedom, ultimately going on to earn the top seed and winning the conference title to solidify an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. Stevens won its first-round matchup before seeing its 2024 campaign come to an end in penatly kicks against No. 8 nationally ranked Amherst College.

The Hawks' last non-conference game comes at home against St. Joseph's-Long Island before they enter their last SUNYAC slate for the program, opening with defending champions SUNY Cortland. The Red Dragons finished last season receiving top 25 votes after upsetting then No. 17 nationally ranked and top-seeded Buffalo State on its home field to earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

The Hawks went 5-3-1 in SUNYAC play last season with their only losses coming against Plattsburgh, Oneonta and Oswego to go along with a tie against then No. 12 Cortland, while earning one goal wins over Potsdam, Fredonia and Morrisville to go along with a 2-0 victory over Canton.

Continuing its 2025 schedule, SUNY New Paltz faces the Bears on the road next before coming back home for a Saturday 1 p.m. game against the Blue Devils Oct. 4. Another mid-week 4 p.m. road matchup against the Mustangs resumes conference play before hosting the Lakers and Cardinals for back-to-back games Oct. 11 and 15, respectively. The contest against Oswego will double as the team's annual Heinz Ahlmeyer Jr. Game on South Turf Field, while the outing against Plattsburgh will serve as a re-match of last year's quarterfinal round with the Hawks earning the victory in penalties to capture their first playoff victory since 2012.

A highly anticipated matchup in Buffalo comes shortly after, as SUNY New Paltz makes the five-plus hour trip to face last year's No. 1 seed Buffalo State. The Bengals ended SUNY New Paltz season last year in the semifinal round.

SUNY New Paltz's last road regular season game is against perennial power SUNY Oneonta, coming Oct. 22 for a 3 p.m. start. It will then conclude the regular season at home against SUNY Canton Oct. 25 at 1 p.m.

The SUNYAC Tournament begins with the quarterfinal round Nov. 11 with the semifinals set for Nov. 5 at the highest remaining seeds. The SUNYAC Championship will take place Nov. 8 with the highest remaining seed playing hosts.
