SUNY New Paltz Men's Soccer Announces Incoming Recruiting Class for the 2026 Season

New Paltz, NY — The State University of New York New Paltz men's soccer team announced its incoming class for the 2026 season today. 

SUNY New Paltz men's soccer ended its historic run in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) in 2025 with a 10-4-4 overall record and a 5-2-2 SUNYAC mark, earning its seventh consecutive appearance in the SUNYAC playoffs. In a storied multi-decade membership in SUNYAC beginning in 1961, the Hawks have won the SUNYAC title twice; Hawks appeared in two NCAA college division playoffs, winning one; one NAIA final four; two ECAC playoffs. The 2026 season marks the Hawks entrance into the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) which has perennially produced some of Division III's top soccer teams.

Zachary Bloom '30

SUSA FC

Zachary Bloom had a three year tenure as the starting goalie for the Commack Cougars. He led the Cougars to the 2025 Section XI Class AAA title and the Long Island Class AAA championship. The Cougars then won the 2025 NYSPHSAA Class AAA NYS Championship, with Bloom recording three shutouts in the state championship tournament. He recorded a total of 13 clean sheets in his senior year. Bloom was also an integral part of Commack's 2024 and 2023 Section XI Class AAA semifinal teams.

He was a 10 year participant with SUSA FC and led SUSA B08 ECNL to two Elite Clubs National League Northeast Division championships. Bloom also guided the team to four consecutive national playoff berths.

Bloom has spent his summers as a Cancer Campaign volunteer day camp for children with cancer as well as serving as a summer youth soccer coach.

Randy Contreras '30

FC Somers

Randy Contreras played varsity soccer for two years at Somers HS and started as a senior, serving as team captain. As a senior he was named to the LoHud Preseason Elite Watch List. He was selected as a Section I Honorable Mention and All League 1st Team. Contreras helped lead the Tuskers to the Section I, Class A championship final. He had three multi-goal games and scored the lone, game winning goal to defeat previously undefeated Peekskill HS. He was also a key member of Somers' 2024 Section I, Class A playoff team.

Contreras was an Honor Roll student throughout his high school career.

Oliver Farris '30

Eture Sports Academy-Spain

Oliver Farris played and started for Lincoln HS in his senior year. He led the Cardinals to the 2024 Portland Interscholastic League championship and earned All State Honorable Mention honors.

Farris spent a gap year with the Eture Sports Academy, training and playing in Spain. Farris also played four years with Portland City United, ultimately competing for the PCU Red 1 Gold Premier team.

He pursued an entirely International Baccalaureate curriculum at Lincoln High School.

Dante Gulla '30

FC Somers

Dante Gulla was a four year starter for the Bears of Brewster High School and was a senior co-captain. He was a two-time preseason LoHud Elite 11 Watch List selection and also a Section I Coaches Watch List pick; He was a three-time All League selection and a two-time Section I, Class A Honorable Mention. With FC Somers, Gulla was a member of the premier squad.

Gulla was a four year NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete.

Cody Hamilton '30

New York Elite Alleycats FC

Cody Hamilton is one of the most decorated boys soccer players to come from Columbia High School. A four year starter and senior team captain, he holds the Blue Devils career goal record with 69. He was named as a senior to the NYS All State Class AA 1st Team, was selected as the Times Union Large School Soccer Athlete of the Year and had 22 goals and 13 assists for the Blue Devils. He is a two-time Suburban Council 1st Team select as well as a 2024 Times Union Large School 1st Team pick. Hamilton led Columbia into four consecutive playoffs: two Section II, Class AA semifinals; two Section II, Class AA championships, the 2025 NYSPHSAA Sub-Regional championship and the NYSPHSAA Regional finals.

Hamilton served as team captain in 2024 and 2025 for New York Elite Alleycats FC and was the team representative to the IMG National Academy League.

Hamilton was a member of the Blue Devils NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete Team Award for all four years of high school.

Chase Marshall '30

Chase Marshall was a three year varsity player for Newburgh Free Academy, starting as a junior and senior. As a senior he was listed on the Varsity 845 Preseason Watch List. He earned Varsity 845 1st Team honors and was named to the NYSPHSAA All NYS-Large School squad. Marshall led the Goldbacks to a 14-4-1 record in 2025, winning the Section IX, Class AAA championship, before losing in the NYSPHSAA Regional semifinal round. He was also a part of the Goldbacks 2024 team that were Section IX, Class AAA semifinalists.

With the New York Soccer Club, he participated in such events as MLS NEXT Festival, Copa Rayador and the MLS NEXT Flex. Marshall also ran winter and spring track for Newburgh, focusing on the sprints.

Marshall was a three year NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete and a High Honor Roll student at Newburgh.

Morris Marshall '30

Morris Marshall was a four year starter at left wing for the Gators of Lab Museum United. His premier season was his junior year, with 10 goals and 11 assists, leading Lab Museum into the PSAL Division 1A-Competitive Level quarterfinals.

Also a four year starter for his FA Euro MLS Next, Marshall participated in numerous regional showcase tournaments. Coaches' scouting reports say "he is speedy, with great agility, has great game vision and positioning, precise in his crossing and dribbling, with team leadership and communication skills along with endurance and a high work ethic".

Alexander Prince '30

Quickstrike FC

Alexander Prince was a two year starter for Newburgh Free Academy, helping to anchor the Goldbacks defense, playing primarily at outside back. A 2025 Varsity 845 Section IX "Players to Watch" pick, Prince assisted NFA to a 14-4-1 overall record, a first place finish in Section IX, Division 1 with a 7-2 mark, and to the Section IX, Class AAA championship. NFA then scored a NYSPHSAA Class AAA Regional semifinal win, before the Goldbacks 1-2 loss in the regional final to Baldwinsville. As a first-year starter in 2024, Prince helped NFA to the Section IX, Class AAA playoffs.

Prince gained valuable playing experience first as a member of Fox Soccer Academy, then moving on to be selected for Quickstrike FC U18/U19 Boys in 2025.

Austin Sheehan '30

Austin Sheehan was starting goalie for the Calhoun Colts for two of his three varsity years, leading them to two Nassau County Class AA playoff berths, including into last season's final round. With a two year record of 25-2-1, with 18 clean sheets in 31 games, Sheehan was a two time All Nassau County selection as well as the two-time All Conference AA1 Goalkeeper of the Year.

As a senior he was a Newsday Preseason Top 100 Long Island Boys Soccer Players pick. Hefurther was named All Region, All Long Island-2nd Team and All NYSPHSAA All State. He won the "Al Freeman Best Nassau County Goalkeeper Award" from the Nassau County Boys Soccer Coaches Association and was chosen to play in the Nassau County Exceptional Seniors Game.

He has been an Olympic Development Program (ODP) player since 2020 and in 2024-25 and 2025-26 was on the ODP National Select Team roster, playing internationally in Italy and Spain. With New York Hota he has led them to the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association State Cup, the US Youth Soccer East Regional Championship and the USA Youth Soccer National Semifinals.

Sheehan was no slouch in the classroom - he is a three-time NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete and a member of the National Honor Society.

In his senior year at Calhoun, he also played on the boys varsity basketball team.

Quentin Smith '30

Quentin Smith played and started for the Brooklyn Prospect Charter School boy's soccer team for his senior year. He led the Hawks to an overall 10-1-0 in the NYC Charter School Athletic Association; the Hawks finished 10-0-0 and were CSAA Division 2A champions; in the NYC PSAL Brooklyn III, he led the Hawks to the PSAL AA finals.

He was a four year participant with Brooklyn United Academy, progressing from EDP 1 Division in 2023 to Male U19-1st Division Blue in 2024 and in 2025 to the B2008 ECNL-RL division.

He was an AP student at Brooklyn Prospect Charter School, following an International Baccalaurette program of study.
