Samantha Trimblett Named SUNY New Paltz Women’s Soccer Interim Head Coach Ahead of 2025 Season

New Paltz, NY — After three seasons serving in an assistant role for the State University of New York New Paltz women's soccer program, Samantha Trimblett will take over as the Interim Head Coach for the team ahead of their 2025 fall season.

"We are thrilled to have Samantha on board as our Interim Head Women's Soccer Coach," said SUNY New Paltz Director of Athletics, Wellness and Recreation Renee Bostic. "As a double alum of the university and a past assistant coach of the team, she understands the culture of the program and will take us to greater heights."

"I am very excited to be leading this group of women this fall," Trimblett added. "I have had the pleasure of working with this program for the last three seasons, and to be given the chance to be the head coach during this time is something I am immensely grateful for."

Trimblett began with the program as a volunteer assistant in 2022 before taking on the lead assistant role the last two seasons alongside coach Mike Eckberg who stepped down at the helm earlier this summer. Trimblett and Eckberg earned SUNYAC Coaching Staff of the Year honors after guiding the program to their first SUNYAC title in more than a decade in 2024. The team had the best regular season finish in program history, going 8-0-1 to garner the No. 1 seed for the first time ever in the SUNYAC Tournament where they went on to defeat reigning champion SUNY Cortland, 2-0 in front of a rambunctious home crowd. The Hawks ultimately made an NCAA appearance and finished 15-3-2 overall, ending as the winningest season in program history.

"I have been able to make incredible bonds and build trust with each and every player, and these will be the foundational pillars that continue the momentum of success we had during our last season," she said. "The one thing I know has not changed is the dedication, desire, and drive that each player brings to this team. With a team that has those qualities ingrained, there is no limit to the excitement for the season ahead. We will be making a choice, each and every day, to put in the work as we strive to another great season. This team of veterans has set the tone for the upcoming season, and with the work they have put in this summer, we are ready to take on the SUNYACs one last time."

The Hawks begin their 2025 campaign at home August 29 against Sage on South Turf Field.
