Schenectady, NY – The State University of New York at New Paltz swimming program traveled to Union College Friday in their final dual meet of the season. The women fell 175-76, while the men lost 182-81.
The Women's team of
Jayme Fink,
Brianna Law,
Alexis Egbert and
Erin Donovan touched fourth in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:02.96. The men's team of
Alex Gorzula,
Deniz Gurcan,
Jack Samko and
Nicholas Ahlborn earned third with a time of 1:43.35.
Sophia Bucci took second in the 1000-yard free with a time of 12:10.36.
Kiara Walsh also represented the Hawks, placing fifth with a time of 12:51.00. Gorzula swam the 1000 for the men placing third with a time of 12:04.00.
Antonio Vavalle touched second for the men in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.50
Athena Sage (1:17.18) and
Annabella Perez Salvi (1:18.63) touched third and fourth in the 100-yard backstroke.
Mickey Leach (1:06.50) and
Dylan Esposito (1:07.44) touched third and fourth for the men.
Law touched second in the 100 breaststroke for the women with a time of 1:14.13. Gurcan (1:05.97) and Ahlborn (1:16.28) placed fifth and sixth for the men.
Samko earned first in the men's 50-freestyle with a time of 22.32.
Egbert (1:00.19) and Bucci (1:02.04) took third and fourth, respectively, in the women's 100-yard freestyle. Vavalle won the men's heat with a time of 50.61.
Jayme Fink (2:30.72) and Leach (2:36.47) both took third for the Hawks, in both the women's and men's head of the 200 back.
Donovan took fourth in the women's 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:47.26. Gurcan took second in the men's heat with a time of 2:23.90.
Bucci (5:58.00) took third in the 500 free followed by Walsh (6:18.16) and Perez Salvi (6:50.13) in fifth and sixth. Vavalle took fourth in the men's heat with a time of 5:19.44, followed by Gurcan with a 5:46.31.
Egbert took second in the 100 fly with a time of 1:05.44, followed by Donovan in fourth with a 1:08.84 and
Madeleine Tothero in sixth with a 1:13.61. Samko took second for the men with a 55.24 and Esposito took sixth with a 1:06.16.
Gorzula took first in the 200-Individual Medley with a time of 2:08.56.
The women placed first in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of Perez Salvi, Donovan, Egbert and Law touched with a time of 1:53.48. The men's team of Vavalle, Esposito, Samko and
Sebastian Maldonado touched first as well with a time of 1:38.92.
The Hawks will use the next couple of weeks to train for the programs final SUNYAC Championship appearance, in Buffalo New York. The Championship style meet will include a prelim session in the morning, followed by an evening finals event and run from Feb. 18
th to Feb 21
