New Paltz, NY — The United Volleyball Conference (UVC) announced its weekly winners Monday with Hawks sophomore outside hitter
Nikko Tenedorio earning his second player of the week recognition.
Tenedorio led the State University of New York New Paltz to back-to-back nationally ranked victories, handing No. 1 Springfield and No. 4 Stevens losses this past week. Tenedorio was named alongside MIT's Braeden Baker.
In a five-set victory over the No. 1 Pride Wednesday night in the Hawk Center, Tenedorio tallied a game-high 16 kills on 32 attempts, hitting a productive .438, while adding four blocks and seven digs with a game-high 18.5 points. Then, in a 3-0 sweep of the No. 4 Ducks Saturday on the road, Tenedorio added a team-high12 kills with two blocks and seven digs for 13 points.
The Hawks are back home this week, facing Nichols Wednesday night at 6 p.m. before hosting Nazareth Saturday at 1 p.m. for Senior Day.
