NEW PALTZ, NY – Junior midfielder Sophia Bronzi has been selected to the 2026 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Collegiate Watchlist, presented by Performance Sports Events (PSE). 

The 2026 NFHCA Watchlist recognizes field hockey student-athletes who have demonstrated a high level of achievement and are considered to have strong potential for NFHCA All-Region and All-America consideration this season. 

Student-athletes were nominated by their NFHCA member coaches and must have earned qualifying field hockey recognition within the previous two years. Qualifying honors include NFHCA All-Region, NFHCA All-America, All-Conference, Senior Nexus Championship selection, NCAA All-Tournament Team or selection to a U.S. National or international team roster. 

Bronzi joins a select group of student-athletes across Division III after a strong sophomore campaign in the midfield, starting all 18 contests for the Hawks while recording one goal and two defensive saves. The Hopewell Junction, N.Y. native was a vital piece of a New Paltz squad that reached SUNYAC tournament play for the 15th consecutive season, earning All-SUNYAC Second Team honors for her efforts. 

New Paltz enters its first season in the New Jersey Athletic Conference with high expectations after landing fifth in the NJAC Preseason Poll and being tabbed as the conference's dark horse. Bronzi was also selected as the Hawks' Player to Watch entering the 2026 campaign. 

Bronzi has also excelled in the classroom, earning recognition on four different academic honor lists, including a spot on the NFHCA National Academic Squad last year. 

New Paltz Field Hockey opens its 2026 season Tuesday, Sept. 1, hosting Marywood University at 4 p.m. on North Turf.
