NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – Both State University of New York at New Paltz relays in addition to seniors
Jessica Lester (Long Beach, N.Y.) and
Becky Baker (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) established pool records, as the Hawks (5-2) defeated SUNY Cortland (5-3), 142-115, in a Senior Day women's swimming dual meet on Friday afternoon in Elting Pool.

Christine Rieth (Penfield, N.Y.) kicked off the meet with a swift time of 1:50.89 in the 200 medley relay, which bettered the former pool record of 1:51.81. Michelle Coombs, Baker, Erica Ellis and Rieth clocked the former facility-best in 2007. At the end of the meet, sophomore

Allison Wells (Shelton, Conn.), Baker and Rieth partnered up and uncorked a 1:41.47 in the 200 freestyle relay, which wiped out the pool standard of 1:41.99 set by Lown, Wells, junior
Allie Moorhead (Marcy, N.Y.) and Rieth earlier this season.
In addition, both Lester and Baker lowered records of their own. Lester's 10:46.58 in the 1000 freestyle topped her own facility mark, which she set earlier this season (10:53.49), while Baker's 1:07.66 in the 100 breaststroke sliced down her former standard of 1:08.07 that she established last year.
Four Hawks were double-event winners. Beyond her 1000 freestyle performance, Lester bested the 500 freestyle field with a 5:26.91. Suzuka went a first-place 1:01.38 in the 100 backstroke before completing the sweep in the stroke with a 2:12.17 in the 200 backstroke. Baker took both the 100 breaststroke and the 200 breaststroke (2:33.30), while Rieth tapped the wall first in the 50 freestyle (24.88) and the 100 freestyle (54.06).
Senior
Marissa Morris (Toms River, N.J.) also collected first-place points for the Hawks. She turned in an event-best in the 200 freestyle (2:01.50), touching out Lester by half of a second.
Cortland's Chrisanna Hickey also set a pool mark, doing so in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:12.06.
New Paltz concludes its dual-meet season on Saturday, Jan. 29, when it travels to Hoboken, N.J., to contest the Stevens Institute of Technology. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
