MANLIUS, N.Y. – From Friday, Oct. 7, through Sunday, Oct. 9, the Eastside Racquet Club will serve as host to the 2011 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Tennis Championship Tournament. The State University of New York at New Paltz women's tennis team (6-1, 3-0 SUNYAC East) seeks to defend its conference title and win the league for the fifth time in its program history. The Hawks hold the No. 1 seed out of the East Division and find themselves opposite SUNY Oswego, the West Division's No. 4 seed, in the quarterfinal round on Friday evening at 6 p.m.

Last season, head coach Rob Bruley earned SUNYAC Coach of the Year honors for the fourth time in his career, as the Hawks edged out SUNY Geneseo for the conference crown. This year marks a change in the tournament's format, as it veers away from a flighted format in favor of a team format.

Junior Montana Wilson (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay), a two-time All-SUNYAC honoree, leads the charge in singles, as she boasts a 5-2 overall record at flight one. Junior captain Kayla DiPaulo (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) has been nearly unbeatable all season at flight two singles with a 6-1 mark at the position, and sophomore Paige Munroe (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor Pioneer) is 5-1 at No. 3 singles. Junior Alli Esposito (Bellmore, N.Y./John F. Kennedy), seniors Juliette Brandon (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) and Ingrid Maryansky (Forest Hills, N.Y./Forest Hills) and freshmen Jessica Schmidt (Commack, N.Y./Commack) and Devin Tracy (Great River, N.Y./East Islip) all have toggled between flights four through six of singles and add significant depth to the Hawk lineup.

In doubles, the tandem of Wilson and Munroe are 4-2 at flight one, while DiPaulo and Tracy are 5-2 at flight two. A number of different combinations of players have combined to post a record of 4-3 at the flight three doubles position.
