NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's swimming team (4-1) touched first in 10 of 11 events in a dual meet against SUNY Oswego (2-2) on Saturday at Elting Pool, topping the visiting Lakers, 125-77.

Sophomore Chelsea Allocco (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) and senior Christine Rieth (Penfield, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) each won two individual events for New Paltz. Allocco provided the winning time in the 1,000 freestyle (11:24.55) and the 500 freestyle (5:36.48), while Rieth topped the field in the 200 freestyle (1:57.64) and the 100 backstroke (1:03.53).

Junior Katina Lown (Bohemia, N.Y./Connetquot) took the 50 freestyle in 26.68, while junior Yuka Suzuka (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) won by just more than a seven-second margin in the 200 individual medley (2:17.04). Junior Carly Marshall (Cornwall, N.Y./Cornwall Central) charted the top standard in the 100 butterfly (1:02.35), and sophomore Victoria Scalise's (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) 56.81 100 freestyle proved to be an event-best.

Both Hawk relays boasted first-place performances as well. Suzuka, Lown, Marshall and Rieth offered a 1:53.82 in the 200 medley relay, while the foursome comprised of Lown, freshman Katherine Buyes (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./John Jay), Scalise and senior Taylor Henshaw (Norwood, N.J./Northern Valley Old Tappan) stopped the clock at 1:44.44 in the 200 freestyle relay. The Hawks' 200 freestyle relay, which touched first, was an exhibition entry and did not score points.

New Paltz's dominance in the individual events extended past the first-place swimmers, as freshman Rachael Cummings (North Attleboro, Mass./North Attleboro), sophomore Kelly Durma (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan), Suzuka and sophomore Niki Ghostlaw (New Windsor, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy) all provided runner-up finishes. Cummings was second in the 1,000 freestyle (11:45.45), Durma was second in the 200 freestyle (2:07.72), Suzuka was second in the 100 butterfly (1:02.80) and Ghostlaw was second in the 500 freestyle (5:41.90).
