2012 NCAA Division III Scholar All-America Team (Honorable Mention Men)
EVANSTON, Ill. –
Chelsea Allocco (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) and
Jesse Sweeney (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme) of the State University of New York at New Paltz swimming team each were accorded 2012 College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) NCAA Division III Scholar All-America Honorable Mention laurels for their efforts both in the pool and in the classroom, as announced by the CSCAA.
The CSCAA presents the honorable mention award to swimmers and divers who achieved a fall or spring semester grade-point average of 3.5 or higher in addition to a "B-Cut" standard, but did not qualify for their respective national championship.
Allocco posted a fall 2011 grade-point average of 3.58 and achieved NCAA provisional qualifying times in the 400 individual medley (4:36.65) and the 1,650 freestyle (17:26.44), while Sweeney registered a fall 2011 grade-point average of 3.67 and cleared the NCAA provisional cut in the 100 backstroke (51.65). Allocco is currently majoring in mathematics and computer science, while Sweeney is currently majoring in psychology.
New Paltz kicks off the 2012-13 campaign on Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Union Relays in Schenectady, N.Y.
