Meet ResultsCAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's swimming team wrapped up day one of competition at the MIT Invitational hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Friday evening at the Zesiger Center, and the Hawks sit in second place out of eight teams with 70 points.
Host MIT leads the team standings with 100 points after day one, while Harvard University (third, 69), Keene State College (fourth, 48), Wellesley College (T-fifth, 46), Tufts University (T-fifth, 46), Bowdoin College (seventh, 36) and Wheaton (Mass.) College (eighth, 30) round out the remainder of the field.
Days two and three at the event will feature a prelim-final format, with prelims each day beginning at 10:30 a.m. and finals commencing at 6 p.m.
The Hawks gained a big leg up on much of the field on day one due to their depth, fielding two 800 freestyle relays that placed in the top eight. The New Paltz "A" relay team of junior

Samantha Granan (Hyde Park, N.Y./Franklin D. Roosevelt) and junior
Casey O'Connor (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) clocked an eighth-place standard of 8:10.77.
In the 1,650 freestyle, sophomore
Ann Fici (Hauppauge, N.Y./Hauppauge) posted New Paltz's top time of 18:40.53, which was good for eighth place, while Buyes finished ninth (18:41.26). Senior
Rachael Cummings (North Attleboro, Mass./North Attleboro) scored points in the event, too, with a 15th-place mark of 19:48.61.
