NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's tennis team will travel to Hoboken, N.J., to take on the Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday, April 9, at 3:30 p.m.
RECORDS: New Paltz enters the match with a 10-7 overall record, while Stevens is 8-7.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS (10-7): In its first match following its March Spring Break trip, the New Paltz women's tennis team earned a 9-0 victory over Union (N.Y.) College on Sunday, March 6… New Paltz cruised through doubles play, winning by scores of 8-3, 8-4 and 8-5 at flights one, two and three, respectively… The No. 1 doubles tandem of junior
Jessica Schmidt and freshman
Veronika Paikin put up the largest margin of victory, winning 8-3… At flight five of singles freshman Elizabeth Palmer won, 11-9, in a tiebreak to clinch the sweep.
SCOUTING THE DUCKS (8-7): Stevens fell, 8-1, to The College of New Jersey on Saturday, April 5… After dropping the first game in a tiebreaker at No. 1 singles, junior Jessica Bourque took the second, 6-2, before completing the win with a tiebreaker in the third 10-6.
