NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's tennis team plays in two road competitions this weekend, first at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 1 p.m. before playing at the Vassar College Scramble on Sunday, Sept. 21, at 9 a.m.
 

SCOUTING THE HAWKS (5-1): New Paltz went 1-1 over the weekend, falling to SUNY Geneseo, 7-2, before defeating The College at Brockport, 9-0, on Saturday... Freshman Carol Tyson is 6-0 in singles, including a 4-0 flight four mark... Tyson is second in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) in singles victories... Junior Laura Tierney is 4-0 at flight six singles... Sophomore Veronika Paikin is 3-0 at No. 3 singles... Freshmen Brittany Grandville and Sara O'Brien are both 5-1 in singles action... Senior co-captain Jessica Schmidt and junior Allie Starke are 3-0 at flight one doubles... Sophomore Olivia Ammirati and Grandville hold a 4-1 mark at flight three doubles.
 

SCOUTING THE ENGINEERS (0-0): RPI opened up the fall season at the Siena College Fall Classic on Sept. 6-7 held in Central Park... In flight A singles, junior Emily Laurilliard picked up a victory... Senior co-captain Amanda Alexander won a flight B singles match and took home the consolation match... Sophomore Pooja Ganesh earned a flight C singles victory before falling in the finals.
 

SCOUTING THE BREWERS (0-0): The Brewers opened the year at the Lindsay Morehouse Invite, hosted by Williams College from Sept. 12-13... In doubles, sophomore Hanna McGuire and freshman Courtney Geiss went 3-0... Seniors Samantha Schapiro and Ava Sadeghi posted a 2-1 mark... Juniors Winnie Yeates and Emily Hallewell also went 2-1... In singles, freshman Dasha Ivenitsky and sophomore Connie Yoo both earned 2-1 records.
 

SCOUTING THE CAMELS (0-0): This is the first competition for Connecticut College this season... The Camels went 3-13 in 2013-14... Last year at Vassar, then-freshman Susanna Studwell picked up the lone singles victory in flight one... In doubles, then-freshmen Gibson Miller and Jillian Brigandi earned a flight three win.
 

SCOUTING THE VIOLETS (0-0): NYU competed at the Lions Invitational hosted by The College of New Jersey from Sept. 12-13... Sophomore Laila El Dessouki, junior Madeline King, junior Carmen Lai and freshman Nicole Schnabel picked up singles wins... El Dessouki and Lai posted a pair of doubles wins... King and junior Alison Wang went 1-1... Schnabel and senior Mari Tzakis also finished 1-1... Junior Jazmin Colling and senior Alexandra Ziarko went 1-1.
 

LAST MEETINGSNew Paltz fell to RPI, 8-1, on Sept. 21, 2013 I New Paltz participated in doubles play at the Vassar Scramble on Sept. 22, 2013.

WHAT'S NEXT: New Paltz hosts Western Connectictut State University on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 4 p.m. for its final home contest of the fall... RPI, Vassar and NYU compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regional Tournament at William Smith College in Geneva, N.Y., from Sept. 27-29... The Camels will host the Connecticut College Tournament on Sunday, Oct. 5.
