NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Playing its final non-conference match of the season, the men's soccer team at the State University of New York at New Paltz played to a 0-0 double overtime draw at Mount Saint Mary on Tuesday night at Kaplan Field.
New Paltz (6-3-7 overall) managed to outshoot the Knights (10-5-1 overall) on the evening, 15-5 with an 11-3 shots on goal margin, as senior midfielder
Charlie Versen (Dobbs Ferry, NY/The Masters School) led the starters with three shots while freshman
Thomas Preece (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) came off the bench and fired off three shots of his own.

Sam Spring (Long Island City, NY/NYC Lab School for Collaborative Studies) and freshman midfielder
Coltan Goodwine (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) all tallied two shots each. The Hawks attempted eight corner kicks, including seven in the second half, but could not capitalize on these key scoring opportunities.
New Paltz and Mount Saint Mary are no strangers to tightly-played games as this is the third match in the past four contests between these two programs that has gone to double overtime.
Senior goalkeeper
Mark Nowak (Newburgh, NY/Marlboro Central) earned the start in his hometown and played the entirety, making three saves in the process.
The Hawks will prepare to host SUNY Fredonia on Friday, Oct. 21 at 3 p.m. before taking on Buffalo State on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 1 p.m. in the Heinz Ahlmeyer Game and Senior Day. All three teams will be vying for a berth into the 2016 SUNYAC postseason.
