| By:
Box Score Hoboken, NJ – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's tennis team gritted out another tough victory Wednesday, going on the road and defeating Stevens Institute of Technology (10-6 overall), 6-3 to remain undefeated on the year.

"Really had to [grind] out the win," said Hawks coach Rob Bruley. "Two big points in doubles helped us going into singles where we had to dig deep."

SUNY New Paltz (15-0) won two of three doubles matches with Trinity Chow and Laura Koob rolling to an 8-2 first doubles victory over the Ducks' Julia Earl and Makenna Sargis. Victoria Zezula and Lindsay Haley won 8-3 in second doubles, defeating Agatha Malinowski and Isabella Calandra. Courtney Koran and Emma Messenger fought through a tight match in third doubles, but ultimately fell, 8-6 to Stevens' Alexiz Fuda and Chelsea Braithwaite.

The Hawks toughed out some strong play in all of their singles matches. Chow, after dropping the first set in first singles, 6-4, battled back to win the second, 6-3 and ultimately take the match with a decisive, 6-1 victory in the third set. Haley also had an exciting three-set win at sixth singles. After taking the first set, 6-1, the Ducks' Gabriella Tantillo fought back to earn the win in set two, 6-2. In a back-and-fourth third set, Haley out-lasted Tantillo, winning 10-5.

Laura Koob only needed two sets to earn a second singles victory, however, the first set was extended, as she took a 7-5 victory before rolling to the win after earning a 6-1 win in the second. Jenna Grandville took care of business for SUNY New Paltz in fourth singles, defeating Isabella Calandra, 6-3, 6-1.

Zezula fell in third singles, while Koran toughed out a long three-set match at fifth singles, but couldn't come out on top as she fell, 6-2, 5-7, 5-10.

"Strong singles performance from Jenna Grandville and Laura Koob with Trinity [Chow] digging deep to win her singles match," Bruley said.

The undefeated Hawks are back in action Friday, as they travel to Manhattanvile College to take on the Valiants for a 3:30 p.m. match.
