CANTON, NY- The State University of New York at New Paltz cross country team(s) traveled to the north country of New York for the NCAA Mideast Regional Championship hosted by St. Lawrence University. The women finished fifteenth out of twenty-one teams. The men finished eighteenth out of twenty-three teams. The championship race was held on the Ronald C. Hoffman cross country course on the St. Lawrence campus. The course was slightly longer than the set distance for the respective races. Excessive mud compelled meet officials to redirect the course(s) which resulted in additional meters.
Senior
Kate Cochran led the women placing eleventh overall with a time of 22:57.9 on the muddy 6K racecourse. Cochran earned All-Region honors from the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association by virtue of her top thirty-five finish. Cochran also earned an individual qualifier's spot for the NCAA Division 3 National Championships on November 19 in Lansing, Michigan.
Lillian Stephenson was the next Hawk in ninety-fifth with a time of 26:13.3.
Mikayla Cecora placed one hundred-ninth with a time of 27:06.5.
Kacey Manzueta and
Marcella Candlin rounded out the scoring five in one hundred-tenth and one hundred-twelfth place(s) respectively.
Gavin Bowers was the first Hawk on the men's side with a time of 29:12.9 for ninety-ninth overall in the 8K race.
Hans Hilson-Schneider finished in one hundred-fifth in a time of 29:47.1.
Brian LaRossa finished one hundred-fourteenth with a time of 29:55.3.
Vincent Mandraccia and
Joe Palazzolo rounded out the scoring five in one hundred-thirtieth and one hundred forty-second place(s) respectively.

Today's regional championship was the last of 2022 season for both squads as a team. Senior
Kate Cochran will compete as one of seven individual qualifiers from the Mideast Region at the NCAA National Championships on Saturday November 19. The NCAA meet will be hosted by Olivet College and the Greater Lansing Sports Authority at Forest Akers East Golf Course on the campus of Michigan State University in Lansing, Michigan.
