New Paltz, NY— The State University of New York at New Paltz announced its men's and women's cross country schedule Wednesday.
The Hawks begin their season in similar fashion compared to previous years, heading across the river in back-to-back weekends, as they hope to build toward a successful season. and hope for a few national qualifiers in 2022.

For the sixth consecutive season, SUNY New Paltz will participate in the Vassar Season Starter's women's 3K and men's 4K race to open the year. In their last appearance, both the men and women placed second overall. The Hawks will return to Vassar for the annual Ron Stonitsch Invitational with the women running in a 5K race and the men in a 6K. The team's first 8K and 6K for the men and women, respectively, of the season comes on Sept. 16 at their first and only home meet, the New Paltz Invitational. The New Paltz Invitational will be held at the Hudson Valley Sports Complex in Milton, NY, where in the previous year both the men's and women's teams placed first. The women's race is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start and the men are slated for 6 p.m.
Following the New Paltz Invitational, both programs will travel to appear in the Oneonta Invitational. The last time SUNY New Paltz participated in the Oneonta Invitational was in 2013 where the team finished second overall on the women's side and third overall on the men's. SUNY New Paltz will then travel to Williamstown, MA where they will compete in the Purple Valley Classic at WIlliams College. Last Season, the men's team placed eighth overall and the women's team placed ninth overall. In their last meet of the season before the SUNYAC and NCAA Championships, the Hawks will travel to Connecticut College to participate in the Connecticut College Invitational in New London, CT. In the previous year, the men's and women's teams placed 17
th and 19
th overall, respectively.
The SUNYAC Championships will be held on Oct. 29 in Oswego, NY and the NCAA DIII Mideast Regional race is set to begin two weeks later in Canton, NY, hosted by St. Lawrence University. At the regionals last year, SUNY New Paltz placed 14th on men's side and 17th overall on the women's. The 2021 NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships will be held in Lansing, MI, hosted by Olivet Nazarene University.
