New Paltz, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz announced its 2024 Men's Volleyball schedule Monday.
The 2024 season marks the 54th season for the Hawks illustrious men's volleyball program and the perennial NCAA DIII power faces a challenging and daunting 28 match schedule. SUNY New Paltz looking to earn its 13th consecutive trip to the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) tournament and its eighth trip to the NCAA DIII championship.
Of the 25 teams on the schedule, 22 participated in their respective postseason conference tournaments; seven were conference champions; five entered the NCAA DIII tournament with one, Stevens Institute of Technology, capturing the NCAA DIII Championship with 21 of the 26 teams finishing 2023 with winning seasons, and 11 posting 20-plus wins and two with 30-plus wins.
The Hawks finished last season 20-9 overall and 5-1 in the UVC and will open the 2024 campaign at home on Wednesday, Jan. 24 against nationally ranked Rutgers-Newark (NJ) after coming home from their trip to the Dominican Republic Jan. 9-17 where they will face exhibition matches against local programs Mao, Linavo and Volirumba Team Jan 12, 13 & 14, respectively.
SUNY New Paltz next travels to Boston the weekend of January 27-28 to participate in the Fenway Volleyball Classic. The team will face the 2023 NECC champion Nichols College (MA) and GNAC champion and NCAA pick Wentworth Institute of Technology (MA) Saturday; on Sunday they face GNAC tournament entry Emmanuel College (MA) and NECC participant Endicott College (MA).
The Hawks are on the road again the following weekend, February 2-3 to Union, NJ to play in "The Clash at Kean." On Friday, SUNY New Paltz will face host Kean University (NJ) and Randolph-Macon University (VA), both CVC post season tournament participants. On Saturday, the Hawks face Stevenson University (MA), a 2023 MAC tournament pick and CUNY Tournament finalist Hunter College.
SUNY New Paltz returns to the friendly confines of the Hawk Center for the first of three tri-matches on Saturday, Feb. 10. The Hawks first face off against 2023 ECAC champion New Jersey City University, then take on the reigning NCAA DIII National Champion and top ranked Stevens Institute of Technology. Wednesday, Feb. 9 sees the Hawks host NCAA participant Springfield College and then take on 2023 NACC champion and NCAA entry, Benedictine University (IL) on Friday, Feb. 16. SUNY New Paltz concludes the homestand on Saturday, Feb. 17 with New Paltz Tri-Match II, hosting NECC entry SUNY Poly and CUNY finalist Hunter College.

The Hawks travel to Hoboken, NJ for a rematch of their Feb. 10 match with Stevens Institute of Technology. After facing MAC Tournament entry Arcadia Feb. 22, SUNY New Paltz travels to Chicopee, MA for the Elms tri-match opening up the GNAC Tournament finalist Lasell University (MA), followed by Elms College. Home to the Hawk Center on Feb. 28, SUNY New Paltz entertains MAC tournament participant Misericordia University (PA).
The Hawks open their quest for the UVC March 1 against UVC tournament participant Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a rematch against Springfield five days later in the Hawk Center. March 9 and 10 sees the Hawks on the road for two important UVC matches, against men's volleyball newcomer Hobart College (Geneva, NY) on Friday and UVC tournament entry Elmira College on Saturday before returning home March 15 for a match against Skyline Conference Champion St. Joseph's College (LI).
SUNY New Paltz closes out March on the road at New York University on Wednesday March 27 and opens April across the Hudson against UVC champion, NCAA DIII semifinalist and third ranked Vassar College on Wednesday, April 3.
Three matches in the Hawk Center close out the 2024 regular season. First up, nationally ranked Nazareth University April 5, followed by its third home tri-match of the season the following afternoon against UVC finalist St. John Fisher and Russell Sage College.
The UVC Championship Tournament is slated for April 12-14 with the NCAA DIII quarterfinals and semifinal scheduled for April 19-20 with the national championship match on April 26.
