Logan Township, NJ —The State University of New York at New Paltz cross country team(s) were in action today at the Interregional Border Battle hosted by Rowan University. Rowan University is a member of the New Jersey Athletic Conference which SUNY New Paltz will be joining in the summer of 2026. The women ran 6k and the men 8k at Gloucester County Dream Park just east of Philadelphia, PA in Southern New Jersey. The meet featured many of the top Division Three teams in the country. The races consisted of both championship and open division races. The men came in eighteenth out of thirty teams and the women finished twentieth out of thirty-one teams of the teams in the championship races.

Evan Miller led the men's team with a new personal best time of 26:21.1 to place seventy-sixth overall. Oliver Melara-Perez followed in seventy-eighth place with a season best time of 26:23.7. Gavin Bowers and Vincent Mandracchia followed in one hundred-sixth and one hundred seventy-fifth place(s) with new personal best time(s) of 26:50.9 and 27:55.2 respectively. Brandon Gardner rounded out the Hawks' scoring five in one hundred eightieth place with a new personal best time of 28:05.5. Aiden Hesseltine and Joe Palazzolo finished as the Hawks' displacers in two hundred-eighth and two hundred twenty-sixth place(s) respectively with new a pair of new personal best times.

Marcella Candlin finished thirty-eighth overall to lead the Hawks with a season best time of 23:02.4. Orquidea Briceno finished next for the Hawks in ninety-ninth place in a new personal best time of 24:09.8. Lillian Stephenson followed in one hundred sixteenth place with a season best time of 24:29.9. Hunter Larson and Mackenzie Barcomb finished in one hundred thirty-third and one hundred forty-first place(s) places with new personal best times of 24:47.8 and 25:00.2 respectively to close out the scoring five for the Hawks. Jazmyne Daily-Simpson and Crystal Rustami finished as the Hawks displacers in one hundred forty-third and one hundred fifty-eighth place(s) respectively. Daily-Simpson finished with a new personal best time and Rustami earned a new season best time.

The women also had a complete team for the open division race finishing seventh out of thirteen teams. In the open 6k race the Hawks were led by Keira Whitaker with a new personal best time of 27:09.3 to place forty-eighth overall. Sam Maendel followed in fifty-fifth place with a new personal best time of 27:46.8. Ava Nargentino and Alice Adamo finished in sixty-fifth and sixty-sixth place(s) places with times of 28:36.9 and 28:54.4 respectively. Serafin Maier finished in seventy-second place to close out the scoring five for the Hawks in a new personal best time of 29:16.6. The Hawks recorded seventeen new personal best times between the three races along with five new season best times.  

Today's meet marks the end of the Hawks regular season competition. The cross country team(s) return to action on Saturday November 2 for the SUNYAC Championships hosted by SUNY Oswego at Fallbrook Lodge in Oswego, NY.
