New Paltz, NY – The SUNY New Paltz Swim program hosted Adelphi University Friday night. The women fell 143 to 59 against the panthers while the men fell 144 to 61.
The 400-yard women's medley relay started the meet for the Hawks. The team of
Sage Vadney,
Erin Donovan,
Candela Sandoval and
Molly Snyder touched third with a time of 4:37.80.
The men's team also placed third.
Paul Castner,
Alex Gorzula,
Steven Macaluso and
Jack Samko touched with a time of 3:48.95.
Sarina Buono placed second in the women's 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:30.20, followed by
Sophia Bucci with a time of 12:44.93.
Luke Caroll finished third in the men's 1000 with a time of 11:41.33.
Antonio Vavalle battled in the 200-yard freestyle going neck and neck for first place. Vavalle pulled ahead in the last second touching first with a time of 1:50.61, one second before the second-place finisher.
Chloe Jeffares touched second in the 50 free with a time of 28.02.
Abigail Keiser finished fourth with a time of 28.83.
Venn Engstrom finished in second place or the men's 50 free with a time of 23.44.
Sandoval touched second in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 5:19.88. Gorzula got second in the men's 400 IM with a time of 4:26.07.
Samko touched third in the men's 100-yard butterfly with a time of 53.99, followed by
Dylan Nuzzi with a 56.82 and
Hayden Brock with a time of 57.50.
Naomi Levey and Keiser touched third and fourth in the 100 free. Levey finished with a time of 1:02.07, followed by Keiser with a 1:02.46.
Macaluso touched fist in the men's 100 free with a time of 49.25.
Snyder touched second in the 100 back with a time of 1:10.42, followed by Vadney with a time of 1:11.54.
Bucci touched third with a time of 6:10.79 in the women's 500-yard freestyle. Vavalle also placed third in the 500. He touched at 5:03.90 and kept each split under 31.58.
Gorzula touched third in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:03.19.
The women took second in the 200-freestyle relay with a time of 1:52.52. The team of Keiser, Levey, Jeffares and Snyder out touched third place by 2 seconds.
The men also placed second in the 200-free relay. Nuzzi, Samko, Macaluso and Vavalle touched with a time of 1:30.71.
The Hawks will be back in the water next weekend when they head to Vassar College on Nov 15 before heading up to Skidmore on Saturday for a 1 p.m. start.
