Buffalo, NY – The SUNY New Paltz Swim program competed in day four, the final day of the SUNYAC Championship. The teams competed in the 1650-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly, 3-meter diving, and the 400-freestyle relay.
Alex Gorzula broke another team record in finals Saturday night. Gorzula broke Marton Keri's 12 year old 200-yard breast stroke record touching the pads at 2:06.06, dropping .26 tenths of a second from the history books.
Jayme Fink finished ninth in the 1650 with a time of 19:20.00 earning nine points for the Hawks.
Sophia Bucci finished in 14
th with a time of 20:26.87, collecting 3 points.
Antionio Vavalle earned bronze in the 1650. Vavalle touched third with a time of 16:35.05, earning 16 points.
Sage Vadney placed fifth in the 200 back with a time of 2:12.29, dropping over a second from prelims and earning 14 points.
Jack Wirth also took fifth, touching with a time of 1:55.27, also collecting 14 points.
Paul Castner touched 14
th with a time of 2:04.81, picking up three points.
Molly Snyder took 14
th in the 100 free with a time of 56.86, earning three points.
Venn Engstrom took 12
th in the 100, touching with a time of 48.75, picking up five points.
Erin Donovan placed ninth in the 200 breast with a time of 2:38.89, earning nine points.
Naomi Levey took 13
thearning four points with a time 2:44.42.
Alex Gorzula earned silver in the 200 breast with a time of 2:06.06. The second-place finish earned 17 points for the Hawks.
Xavier Calderon took seventh, earning 12 points with a 2:13.53.
Candela Sandoval touched seventh in the 200 fly with a time of 2:23.53, earning 12 points.
Chloe Jeffares touched 15
th with a time of 2:42.51, collecting two points.
Jack Samko took bronze in the 200 fly with a time of 1:56.41. The third-place finish earned the hawks 16 points.
Hayden Brock placed 14
th with a time of 2:07.91, earning three points.
The women's A relay, consisting of Levey, Donovan, Snyder and Vadney touched sixth with a time of 3:50.81, earning 26 points. Bucci,
Annabella Perez Salvi,
Kaylee Gallagher and
Brianna Law made up the B relay, finishing 16
th with a time of 4:04.11, earning two points.
The men's A relay, consisting of Engstrom, Gorzula, Samko and Vavalle placed third in the 400 free relay, earning silver with a time of 3:11.19. The men added 32 points to the board for New Paltz. The B relay consisting of Calderon,
Samuel Debbie, Castner and Brock placed 14
th with a time of 3:22.77, earning six points.
After the final day of the competition the women finished in seventh place with 248 points and the men finished in fourth place with 413 points.
