Waterford, CT —The State University of New York at New Paltz cross country team(s) were in action today for the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships hosted by Connecticut College. The women ran 6k and the men 8k at Harkness Memorial State Park on the Long Island Sound. The men came in sixteenth out of twenty-four teams equaling their team placement in 2023. The women finished seventeenth out of twenty-four teams which is an improvement on their nineteenth-place finish in 2023.

Orquidea Briceno finished seventy-fifth overall to lead the Hawks in a new personal best time of 23:35.1. Marcella Candlin finished next for the Hawks in eightieth place in a time of 23:37.3. Lillian Stephenson followed in one hundred fifteenth place with a time of 24:55.0. Hunter Larson and Crystal Rustami finished in one hundred eighteenth and one hundred twenty-third place(s) places with times of 25:04.6 and 25:14.1 respectively to close out the scoring five for the Hawks. Jazmyne Daily-Simpson and Mackenzie Barcomb finished as the Hawks displacers in one hundred twenty-fourth and one hundred forty-first place(s) and times of 25:14.2 and 26:22.3 respectively.
 

Oliver Melara-Perez led the men's team with a forty-first place finish and a new personal best time of 25:57.5. Evan Miller finished in sixty-sixth place with a time of 26:46.8. Vincent Mandracchia and Gavin Bowers followed in one hundredth and one hundred eighteenth place(s) with time(s) of 27:44.8 and 28:14.4 respectively. Mandracchia earned a new personal best in the 8k. Aiden Hesseltine rounded out the Hawks' scoring five in one hundred twenty-sixth place with a time of 28:41.1. Joe Palazzolo and Brandon Gardner finished as the Hawks' displacers in one hundred twenty-ninth and one hundred thirty-second place(s) and times of 28:53.1 and 29:10.7 respectively. Palazzolo earned and new personal best in the 8k.

Today's Mideast Regional Championship marks the end of the Hawks 2024 fall season. They will return for the start of their non-traditional in March 2025.
