RESULTS:
Williamstown, MA — The State University of New York New Paltz competed in the Purple Valley Classic Saturday, hosted by Williams College.
The Hawks finished third of five teams in the women's 6K race, while finishing fourth of five in the men's 8K.
The hosting Ephs and RPI were in a tight race for first and second place team finishes with the hosts earning the edge with 29 points, followed by the Engineers with 30. SUNY New Paltz landed third with 98, just beating SUNY Dehli (99 points) while Hartford rounded out the scoring with 148.
Marcella Candlin was the Hawks' top harrier in the 6K race, landing 22nd overall with a time of 27 minutes, 57.8 seconds with a mile-split of 7:30.0. Lilian Stephenson followed with a time of 29:38.5 as she crossed 38th overall.
Orquidea Briceno placed 41st overall with a sub-30 time of 29:53.9.
Crystal Rustami (30:16.2),
Mackenzie Barcomb (30:21.8) and
Jazmyne Daily-Simpson (30:30.9) came in as a pack in 44 through 46, respectively.
Hunter Larson (31:47.8) and
Mikayla Cecora (31:56.8) followed in 55th and 56th, respectively with
Allison English coming in at 49th (30:56.4), while
Alice Adamo (34:42.4) and
Serafin Maier (35.39.0) crossing 61st and 62nd, respectively. Samantha Maendel (64th, 38:01.6),
Keira Whitaker (65th, 38:09.4) and
Ava Nargentino (66th, 38:14.0) rounded out SUNY New Paltz's runners.
On the men's side, RPI placed first with 22 points followed by Williams (34), Hartford (102), SUNY New Paltz (108) and SUNY Delhi (128).
Evan Miller finished as the Hawks fastest harrier, placing 36th overall with a time of 29:11.4 and a mile-split of 5:52.7.
Oliver Melara-Perez followed in 44th, as he clocked in with a sub-30 time of 29:48.7.
Vincent Mandracchia wasn't too far behind in 46th, crossing the finish in 30:08.4.
Gavin Bowers (31:06.2),
Aiden Hesseltine (31:22.8),
Brandon Gardner (32:12.5) and Joseph Palazzolo (32:47.7) round out finishes for SUNY New Paltz, coming in 55th, 60th, 66th and 68th, respectively.
The Hawks are back in action Saturday when it competes in the Fred Pavlich Invitational hosted by Bard College.
