The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced its annual women's tennis award winners Tuesday with the SUNY New Paltz Hawks once again dominating the yearly selections with a total of nine players earning All SUNYAC honors.
It seems only fitting that the Hawks garnered the lion's share of honors, as the 2025-26 SUNYAC season saw SUNY New Paltz run through its SUNYAC schedule with a 5-0 record and easily handling Plattsburgh and Cortland in the conference tournament to win its fourth consecutive SUNYAC championship (11th overall) and fourth straight trip to the NCAA DIII tournament in the spring. Over the course of the past eight seasons, the Hawks have never lost a SUNYAC match, going 50-0.
Senior
Justine Stanejko became the second Hawk to earn four straight Peter J. Cahill SUNYAC MVP awards, joining former Hawk Trinity Chow (2018-22) as the only SUNYAC players to ever achieve the feat. Stanejko, with doubles partner Samantha Ostrander, earned SUNYAC Doubles Team of the Year for the second consecutive year. Ostrander also became the fourth SUNY New Paltz player to be honored as SUNYAC Rookie of the Year.

Since coming in as a freshman in 2022, Stanejko has raised the bar for an already storied program in SUNY New Paltz Tennis. She was a Rookie of the Year selection and Peter J. Cahill MVP, and fittingly, she is one of two seniors leading the Hawks in their final stint in the SUNYAC where she once again rightfully earned Player of the Year honors.
Stanejko won all five of her SUNYAC dual matches by a combined score of 60-4 and concluded her singles career with a 24-0 record. In doubles play with partner
Sam Ostrander, she went 5-0, with a combined score of 30-3 with a career doubles mark of 24-0.
Stanejko is a four-time All-SUNYAC First-Team Singles and Doubles selection; a two-time SUNYAC Doubles Team of the Year; named to the SUNYAC All-Tournament Team for both singles and doubles four times; was named SUNYAC Tournament MVP and also SUNYAC Rookie of the Year for her career.
Stanejko and partner
Sam Ostrander earned SUNYAC Doubles Player of the Week (9/22/25) honors. And, following another dominant championship weekend, the Lakeland, NY native now joins an elite group of SUNYAC women tennis players who have been named First-Team All SUNYAC for each of their four years and is just one of six student-athletes in school history to hoist four-straight SUNYAC titles, alongside fellow senior
Nina Genzone.

Sam Ostrander highlights a talented freshmen class for the Hawks, as she stepped in and won a spot near the top of the team's single lineup, playing at second singles only behind four-time Peter J. Cahill MVP
Justine Stanejko. She earned a spot at first singles alongside Stanejko with the duo unstoppable in the SUNYAC play this past year.
As a result, Ostrander earned first team honors on both SUNYAC singles and doubles action and took home Rookie of the Year and Doubles Team of the Year honors after garnering SUNYAC Tournament MVP honors after this past weekend's dominant performance at the SUNYAC Championships in Binghamton, NY.
Ostrander made an explosive entrance to SUNYAC competition, earning both All-SUNYAC First Team Singles honors as well as, with partner
Justine Stanejko, All SUNYAC First Team Doubles honors and SUNYAC Doubles Team of the Year. She was named MVP of the SUNYAC championship, going 2-0 in singles competition and 1-0 in doubles play.
During the regular SUNYAC season she went 5-0 in singles action, giving up only five points in 10 games. In doubles play, she and Stanejko were 5-0, giving up only three points in five games. She and Stanejko earned SUNYAC Doubles Player of the Week honors (9/22//25) as well.

Along with All-SUNYAC First-Team honors, the Marlboro, NY native also garnered her second-straight SUNYAC All-Tournament Team singles pick. On the conference trail, she was 5-0, upping her SUNYAC career mark to 10-0, winning by a combined margin of 60-6. Alongside second doubles partner Filonik, Kunz went 5-0 in conference play, allowing just two points all season. Her career doubles record now stands at 9-0. At the 2025 SUNYAC Championship, she and Filonik did not give up a point in their first-round win over Plattsburgh. All-SUNYAC Second-Team Singles
Lula Brown-Vann came in and immediately impressed with her strong serving and held down fifth singles for the Hawks en route to her first career All-SUNYAC selection.
Brown Vann showed that being one of the top prep players in New York City was good preparation for the challenges of collegiate level tennis. Playing at the No. 5 singles position, the Brooklyn native was 5-0 in SUNYAC matches, giving up just eight points in 10 games to earn All-SUNYAC Second Team honors. Her 6-1, 6-1 victory over her Cortland opponent in the SUNYAC Tournament finals helped SUNY New Paltz claim its fourth consecutive SUNYAC championship.

The former
Newsday All-Long Island selection added to her list of honors by being named to the All-SUNYAC Second Team Singles.
Playing sixth singles for the Hawks, Krol recorded a 5-0 singles conference mark, going 6-1 against SUNYAC competition. At the SUNYAC tournament she was shutting out both opponents in the semifinal and final rounds when the games were called when SUNY New Paltz wrapped up the matches.

All-SUNYAC Second Team Doubles/SUNYAC All-Tournament Doubles
Nina Genzone closes out her stellar SUNY New Paltz tennis career with her second straight All-SUNYAC selection, named as an All-SUNYAC Second Team Doubles selection.

Angelica Gabriel, the duo went 5-0 in SUNYAC doubles play, allowing just five points across the season playing at third doubles. Her standout performance earned her SUNYAC All-Tournament Doubles honors.
Genzone's career doubles record stands at 18-2; she was undefeated for her junior and senior years. And, with winning Saturday's SUNYAC Championship, Genzone and fellow senior
Justine Stanejko became just one of six student-athletes in program history to secure four-straight team SUNYAC titles as the Hawks women's tennis program joined SUNY New Paltz field hockey as the only teams to reach the feat.
Angelica Gabriel (sophomore/Liverpool, NY/Liverpool HS)
All-SUNYAC Second Team Doubles/SUNYAC All-Tournament Doubles

In the SUNYAC Tournament, she and Genzone wrapped up the SUNYAC championship for SUNY New Paltz, winning both the semifinal match against Plattsburgh 6-1 and shutting out Cortland 6-0 to clinch the title. Their play earned them SUNYAC All Tournament Doubles honors.
Rob Bruley (28th Season)
SUNYAC Coach of the Year
For the eighth straight season,
Rob Bruley has been named SUNYAC Coach of the Year.
Bruley, guiding his group to their fourth-straight SUNYAC title, and seventh straight No. 1 seed in the SUNYAC Tournament takes home another coaching honor in arguably the most dominant conference season to date for the Hawks.
The team ended the fall season at 8-0, including 5-0 in the SUNYAC, finishing a perfect 7-0 against SUNYAC competition and won every match played in conference.
The 2025-26 season ends SUNY New Paltz's tenure in the SUNYAC, as 2026-27 will see them play in the challenging New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC). Over the course of 41 seasons in SUNYAC, the Hawks have dominated the 21st Century, amassing 11 SUNYAC championships, second only to former SUNYAC member Binghamton, with 12. Since 2002, the Hawks have a SUNYAC regular season record of 130-13, including 11 undefeated seasons. Individual honors include: 14 Peter J. Cahill SUNYAC MVPs; four SUNYAC Rookie-of-the Year; 14 SUNYAC Doubles Team of the Year; 100 All SUNYAC Second Team selections; 74 All SUNYAC First Team selections — and now 13 SUNYAC Coach of the Year honors — all under Bruley's tenure.
