Buffalo, NY – The SUNY New Paltz Swim program competed in day two of the SUNYAC Championship. The teams competed in the 500-yard free style, 200-yard individual medley, 50-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle relay and the 1 meter-men's diving.
Molly Snyder and
Samuel Debbie were awarded the SUNYAC Elite 20 award.
Elite 20: "The SUNYAC Elite 20, an award modeled after the NCAA ELITE 90 program, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers."
The Hawks have been awarded both the women's and men's awards for the 2025 season. This year's women's honoree is
Molly Snyder. Snyder is a junior communication disorders major with a 3.97 overall GPA. The men's 2025 SUNYAC Elite 20 winner is
Samuel Debbie. Debbie is a senior history major with a minor in political science holding a 3.91 cumulative GPA.

Snyder placed 14
th in the women's 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.67, scoring three points.
Jack Samko made the podium, earning bronze in the men's 50 free. Samko finished third dropping .08 tenths of a second of his prelim time, touching the pads with a time of 21.24. Samko earned 16 points for the Hawks.
Venn Engstrom touched 15
th in the 50 with a time of 22.08, scoring two points.
Jayme Fink finished 16
th in the 500 free with a time of 5:43.86.
Antonio Vavalle placed fourth with a time of 4:45.95 in the 500. Vavalle kept his splits below 30 seconds in each fifty and earned 15 points for the Hawks.
Sage Vadney placed 14
th in the 200 IM. Vandey touched with a time of 2:23.50 scoring three points.
Alex Gorzula placed fifth in the 200 IM with a time of 1:55.23, earning 14 points for the Blue and Orange.
Jack Wirth placed tenth with a time of 1:58.78, scoring seven points.
The women's A relay of Vadney, Noami Levey,
Abigail Keiser and Snyder touched eighth in 1:46.73, scoring 22points. The B relay of
Chloe Jeffares,
Brianna Law,
Jade Fontanez and
Erin Donovan placed 14
th with a time of 1:48.40, scoring six points.
The men's A relay placed sixth. The team of Engstrom,
Paul Castner,
Diego Burgos and Samko touched the pads with a time of 1:27.38, earning 26 points for the men. Wirth,
Samuel Debbie,
Xavier Calderon and Christopher Bernstein placed 16
th with a time of 1:35.76, earning the final 2 points of the session.
After day two of the competition the women are in seventh place with 89 points and the men are in sixth place with 150 points. Prelims start at 10 a.m. in the Burt Flickinger Center on the campus of Erie Community College in Buffalo, NY.
