Chismar struck out seven batters in seven shutout innings of duty on Saturday, helping the Hawks defeat St. Lawrence University, 7-5, at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Fort Myers, Fla. With his seven strikeouts, he gained sole possession of the program's career strikeout record, as he upped his career total to 168. Jimmy Donahue set the former mark of 161 from 2006-09. New Paltz (8-5) returns to the diamond today (Monday, March 19) as it takes on Western Connecticut State University in a Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic doubleheader at 10 a.m.
