Hughes scored the game-winning goal on Friday, Sept. 7 against Staten Island. He put two shots on goal, hitting the back of the net with the second in the 81st minute to give the Hawks a 2-1 victory, their first of the season. Hughes posted three shots on goal and a goal in two games over approximately 95 minutes during the week of Sept. 2-9. New Paltz returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 12, with an 8 p.m. matchup at Mount Saint Mary College.
