GENESEO, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz men's swimming team (3-3) was swept by the Rochester Institute of Technology (7-1) and SUNY Geneseo (8-0) by respective scores of 187-177 and 287-77 on Saturday afternoon on the second and final day of a tri-meet between the three programs on the Geneseo campus.
Team scoring for the meet was not tabulated until after Saturday's session, but a portion of the competition was held on Friday evening.
Senior
Billy Papetti's (Long Beach, N.Y.) performance in the 100 freestyle was the highlight of a strong second day for the Hawks. He turned in the fastest time in the event, covering the four-lap sprint in 50.70 to win by .07 seconds.
Senior
Rob Webb (Hillsborough, N.J.), the defending State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) champion in the 400 individual medley, dazzled in his signature event, taking second with a time of 4:27.25.
Finally, junior
Pete Nastasi (Monroe, N.Y.) went a 5:01.11 in the 500 freestyle to claim third to round out the Hawk swimmers who placed among the top three in their individual events.

Matt Demerest (Long Beach, N.Y.) and junior
Corey Lomas (Wilbraham, Mass.) took second with a 3:46.08, while the quartet of Papetti, junior
Jeremy Borrelli (Vestal, N.Y.), Lomas and senior
Pat Rathbun (Long Valley, N.J.) combined for a solid 3:19.14 in the 400 freestyle relay to also finish second.
New Paltz hosts SUNY Cortland on Friday, Jan. 21, at 4 p.m. in a Senior Day meet at Elting Pool.
