NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz men's swimming team returns to competition from Friday-Saturday, Jan. 10-11, as it faces SUNY Geneseo and the Rochester Institute of Technology in a tri-meet at Geneseo's Alumni Pool. Friday's session begins at 6 p.m., while Saturday's session begins at 1 p.m.

RECORDS: New Paltz enters this weekend's meet with an 0-3 mark. Geneseo is 2-1 overall, with its lone loss coming at the hands of Canisius College, while RIT is 3-3.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS (0-3): New Paltz placed eighth out of 14 teams at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Winter Championships from Friday-Sunday, Dec. 6-8, in Bronx, N.Y… Junior
Jack Spader was New Paltz's top swimmer at the meet, placing fifth in the 1,650 freestyle (16:56.34), 14th in the 500 freestyle (4:56.69), 21st in the 200 backstroke (2:10.59) and 34th in the 200 freestyle (1:53.24)… Spader is currently ranked second in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) in the 1,650 freestyle and is seventh in the conference in the 500 freestyle… Sophomore
Rod Taskindoust ranks among the SUNYAC's top 10 in the 1,650 freestyle (17:16.81, sixth) and the 200 freestyle (1:48.03, eighth), while freshman
Vitaut Gurskiy ranks ninth in the SUNYAC in both the 100 breaststroke (1:04.28) and the 200 breaststroke (2:23.50).
SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS (2-1): Geneseo placed third out of four teams at the University of Tampa Invitational during its annual training trip in Florida… The Knights placed behind NCAA Division I Dartmouth College and NCAA Division II Tampa, but they topped Misericordia University, an NCAA Division III school, by nearly 200 points… Geneseo posted third-place finishes in the 300 butterfly relay (2:41.89), the 300 backstroke relay (2:52.92) and the 8x50 freestyle relay (3:04.51)… Junior John Nasky holds the top 1,650 freestyle time in the SUNYAC (16:32.79)… Sophomore Brian Yale is tops in the conference in the 100 backstroke (52.54) and the 200 backstroke (1:54.89), while sophomore Yonghoon Jun is first in the SUNYAC in the 100 butterfly (50.81)… Junior Kenny Athans leads the SUNYAC so far this season in the 200 individual medley (1:58.17).
SCOUTING THE TIGERS (3-3): RIT placed fourth out of nine teams at the 2013 Liberty League Championships from Dec. 6-7 at Union (N.Y.) College… Sophomore Alex Madar posted RIT's best overall swimming finish on Saturday evening, clocking a second-place time of 2:12.24 in the 200 breaststroke… Junior Matt DePalo won the 1-meter diving event (463.40) and placed second on the 3-meter board (425.05)… Freshman Matt Rolleston took fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.76) and ninth in the 200 individual medley (2:03.04).
LAST MEETING: New Paltz lost to both Geneseo and RIT at last year's tri-meet from Jan. 11-12, 2013, in Rochester, N.Y... The Hawks fell to RIT by a 276-74 score and lost to Geneseo by a count of 279-60.
