WILLIAMSTOWN, MA — The State University of New York at New Paltz cross country team traveled across the border Saturday for the Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams College. The women finished ninth out of 11 teams. The men finished eighth out of 11 teams. The meet was held at Mt. Greylock Regional High School just south of Williams campus in the Berkshires.
Senior Kate Cochran led the women placing eighth overall with a time of 23:38.4 on the hilly 6K racecourse.
Freshman Lillian Stephenson was the next Hawk in 77th with a time of 26:55.0. Emily Gonzalez placed 90th with a time of 27:43.4. Kacey Manzueta and Mikayla Cecora rounded out the scoring five in 94th and 97th places, respectively.
Hans Hilson-Schneider was the first Hawk on the men's side with a time of 28:18.0 for 58th overall in the 8K race. Brian Casey finished in 95th in a new personal best time of 29:44.2. Gavin Bowers finished 103rd with a time of 30:28.9. Vincent Mandraccia followed Bowers in 107th place with a time of 30:34.4. Brian LaRossa rounded out the scoring five in 113th.

SUNY New Paltz is off next weekend, but is back in action Oct. 15 at the Connecticut College Invitational hosted by Connecticut College in New London, CT.
