ONEONTA, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz traveled to the other side of the Catskills for the Airfield Invitational hosted by conference foe SUNY Oneonta. The women finished first out of six teams. The men finished fifth out of five teams. The meet was held at Fortin Park not far from the SUNY Oneonta campus.
Senior Kate Cochran led the women placing second overall with a new personal best time of 22:06.2 in her first 6K race of the season.
Clara Flores-Reininger was the next Hawk in seventh with a time of 24:39.4. Freshman Lillian Stephenson placed ninth with a new personal best time of 25:04.2. Marcella Candlin and Emily Gonzalez rounded out the scoring five in eleventh and sixteenth place(s) respectively.
Hans Hilson-Schneider was the first Hawk on the men's side, as the senior registered a new personal best time of 27:37.0 for tenth overall in the 8K race. Vincent Mandraccia finished in twenty-seventh for a new season best time of 29:32.2. Mandraccia was closely followed by Gavin Bowers in twenty-eighth place with a new personal best time of 29:39.2. Brian LaRossa (thirty-two) and Joe Palazzolo (thirty-five) rounded out the scoring five. Freshman Evan LaBelle was forced to step off the course after two miles due to injury.
