Ewing Township, NJ – The State University of New York at New Paltz swim team competed in day one of their annual mid-season meet Friday. The College of New Jersey Invitational is a three-day, championship format meet with both a preliminary and finals session each day.
Abigail Dusseault finished fifteenth for the hawks in the women's 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:38.84, keeping all her 50 splits under 35.09.
Antonio Vavalle finished in sixteenth place in the men's 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:55.40. Vavalle kept his splits at a consistent 28-30 seconds per 50, not going over 30.57.
Candela Sandoval and
Sage Vadney took seventeenth and eighteenth in the women's 200-yard individual medley. Sandoval touched with a time of 2:24.83, followed by Vadney with a time of 2:25.17.
Alex Gorzula touched fourteenth in the men's 200IM with a time of 1:58.72.
Naomi Levey touched twelfth with a time of 26.40 in the women's 50-yard freestyle.
Molly Snyder also competed in the 50, placing fourteenth with a time of 26.50.
Brianna Law was the last hawk to sneak into the top sixteen, touching with a time of 26.92.
Steven Macaluso and
Jack Samko finished in eleventh and twelfth place in the men's 50-yard freestyle. Macaluso touched with a time of 21.91, followed by Samko with a time of 21.96.
Paul Castner touched seventeenth with a time of 22.59.
Venn Engstrom finished in nineteenth with a time of 22.71.
The Hawks will return to the pool tomorrow morning for prelims at 11:00 a.m., followed by finals at 6:00 p.m.
