Hawks Athletics Hall of Fame
Athletics Administrator for 33 years, coached Hawks softball program for 13 seasons, helped program to first NYSAIAW and SUNYAC Tournament appearances, coached historic 1988 softball team to NYSWCAA Tournament title, first major title in program history, finished Hawks softball coaching career with 112 wins, coached Hawks women’s volleyball program for 11 seasons, helped program to first ever SUNYAC Tournament appearance, coached program to six NYSWCAA postseason tournament appearances, finished career with 195 wins. Dunefsky was an advocate for women’s sports at SUNY New Paltz. He promoted equality among men’s and women’s varsity programs and helped in the department’s naming of the first female recipient of the Heinz Ahlmeyer Jr. Award and in the creation of the Carol Eckman Female Athlete of the Year Award. Following his retirement from athletics in 2005, he spent the next 17 years at the College as the Special Assistant for Projects, to total nearly 50 years of service at SUNY New Paltz upon his retirement in 2022.
