Hawks Athletics Hall of Fame
Rooney spent the past 14 years as New Paltz's Vice President of Student Affairs, and he announced his retirement this past spring. During his tenure as the Vice President of Student Affairs, he oversaw the renovation and opening of the North Tennis Courts (2005), the Athletic & Wellness Center (2006), the North Turf Field (2007) and the South Turf Field (2014); the relocation of Mary Gray Deane Field; the resodding of Loren Campbell Memorial Field and the expansion of offerings within the Wellness & Recreation arm of the department. In addition, New Paltz won 15 conference championships and made 18 NCAA Tournament appearances during his tenure, and he oversaw the department this past academic year when men's volleyball won the College's first-ever national team title.
